Brief

John was starting a new company and he wanted to take things seriously. He knew that his brand needed to be appealing to consumers so he wanted to hit the ground running.

Meaning

The term “Passed Pawn” refers to a chess move in which a pawn moves to the end of the board giving it the ability to transform into any other piece. It immediately gives the player a huge advantage, should they know how to use it.

In our first meeting, John must have said the words “powerful” and “potential” about 20 times. He also used words like “unorthodox” and “approachable.” He gave me great direction on what this logo should mean and how it should reflect his mission.

Most of its time, a volcano lies dormant, but has the potential to obliterate everything around it. I loved the imagery of this, so I knew I had to tailor this mark with a double meaning. Now, the bottom section of this pawn shaped logo is illustrated to resemble a volcano. It symbolizes the powerful potential that this company provides, and it looks nice too.

Strategy

John has a legitimate platform to run his business on. This simple logo is easily recognizable and can be used in any situation. Soon to come are even more specific applications that will expand the brand even further. He will need an awesome website that he will use to promote and sell his services. Also, since this is a media centric company, I will be developing an animation for this logo which will fit beautifully at the beginning or end of his video products, as well as any advertisements we develop.
